17 Year old Michael Simpson; Mathematician, MESA Prg P, Team Member For NASA and Engineering Science Achiever; won the hearts of all in attendance at February 28th Program...

IF I WERE DR KING, These would Be My Words to The Nation, IN CELEBRATION OF 2015 NATIONAL BLACK HISTORY MONTH

The Torrance Gateway Holiday Inn, located at 19800 South Vermont Avenue, Torrance, Ca. proved to be the Hotel of Champions, February 28th as 7 young men and women stepped forward to speak in behalf of community youth at the recently held National Black History Program.

The youth stirred the hearts of adults and other youth who attended to hear and support the 2 hour program.

Michael Simpson, Youth Essayist Ambassador Winner, brought the house down with his stirring and passionate words, spoken as if Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. were in the room! In his dynamic speech, Michael encouraged youth to persevere no matter what their circumstances, and to stop blaming others and looking to past hurts and circumstances as a reason not to become all that you were born to accomplish to be a successful man or woman. His sister; 20 yr old BioMedicine Engineer, Audrey Simpson; flew to California to hear her brother speak, and departed for a stand by flight back east after the event concluded. Michael has been named 2015 Mercy Mission Hospital Youth Ambassador and will have the honor of representing our Young Adults Division in major publicity events, speaking engagements and media conversations, and assisting others on the benefits of volunteerism in the community.

The Essayists, who participated will be given a tour of Los Angeles City Hall on March 24th, 11am, and will then dine at the local Sizzler Restaurant for further discussion on how to engage youth in politics, leadership, academia and community activism. Youth who submitted essays were as follows: Janay A. Evans, Antonio and Kiesha Hilt, Jared Appling, Tramelle Davenport, Rameka Malloy and Roberta Wilkinson.

Hollywood Producer, Mr Peter Allman, expressed heartfelt words of wisdom for the assembled audience, and told the story of how miracle after miracle saved his life, and his road to academia and success from his youth to present. He shared how friendships, doing the right thing and living for the sake of others catapulted him to a life of fame and wealth....and how in the end, sharing ones life with the world became his calling! Tears flowed from his eyes as he opened his life and heart to those who would come after him!

Teddy Bear and he asked if he could have it/the bear to sleep with. Shortly thereafter Bishop James Howard Mims passed and Dr Coppertino says she has "Bishop" with her at all events in Bishop Mims memory, who served as a Community Activist, Freedom Fighter, Protector of the People and Pastor for 50 years in the city of Lynwood, California.
